Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and supervised by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Osama Ibrahim Ahmed, the Chemical Safety and Security Unit organized a workshop on the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), attended by faculty members and students.
Dr. Dhikra Ahmed Hassan, Head of the Chemical Safety and Security Unit at the College of Agriculture, clarified that the workshop aimed to raise awareness among participants about the nature of the Chemical Weapons Convention, including its objectives, implementation mechanisms, obligations for member states, and the role of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in monitoring and verifying compliance with the treaty. The event also highlighted legal and technical aspects of prohibiting chemical weapons, promoted international cooperation to prevent their proliferation, and built participants’ capacities to understand how the convention is applied at the national level.
