A scientific symposium titled "The Application of Effective National Strategies in Achieving Integrity Goals" was held at the College of Arts, University of Kirkuk.
The Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Omer Najmuddin Inja, delivered a lecture in which he emphasized the necessity of disseminating and consolidating the values of integrity within society. He highlighted the importance of exposing the manifestations and pockets of corruption through oversight authorities and working to confront corruption in all its forms.
In this regard, he referred to the Iraqi anti-corruption laws, which are based on a robust legislative framework. This includes:
The Integrity Commission Law No. 30 of 2011 (as amended), which defines the commission's mandates and the prosecution of illicit enrichment.
The Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 (specifically articles related to bribery and embezzlement).
The State and Public Sector Employees Discipline Law No. 14 of 1991.
The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Law No. 39 of 2015.
Other relevant legislation, such as the Federal Board of Supreme Audit Law and the Iraq Assets Recovery Fund Law, all of which aim to enhance integrity, protect public funds, and criminalize legal violations.
