The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, organized an awareness campaign that included distributing educational brochures advocating against violence toward women. This activity comes as a part of the executive plan of the Iraqi National Strategy for Women 2026.
Dr. Zekra Ahmed Hassan, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the college, explained that the campaign aimed to promote awareness of legal protection as a fundamental shield safeguarding women from all forms of violence and discrimination. The campaign also provided educational guidance outlining women’s legal and social rights and ways to claim them to ensure dignity and protection.
Furthermore, the campaign sought to raise academic and community awareness to reinforce a culture of mutual respect and reject violence, in alignment with sustainable development goals.
