The Faculty of Law and Political Science, through its Continuing Education Division, in collaboration with the Centre for Interfaith Dialogue and Community Peace at the University Presidency, organised an academic seminar entitled ‘Authorship and Intellectual Property Rights’ to mark World Book and Copyright Day
The seminar, chaired by the Head of the Continuing Education Division, Assistant Professor Dr Halu Mohammed Saleh, and featuring presentations by Professor Dr Khairuddin Fattah Issa, Lecturer Dr Ramadan Mohammed Saleh, Assistant Professor Qusay Mahmoud Khalaf, and Lecturer Dr Omar Walid Ragheb, aimed to shed light on the concept of authorship and its importance in building human knowledge, and to explain the meaning of intellectual property rights and their role in protecting individuals’ works from theft or unlawful exploitation. It also sought to raise awareness of the ethics of scientific research and the necessity of adhering to academic integrity in the transmission and documentation of information. The seminar also focused on introducing the laws that guarantee the protection of authors’ rights, particularly in the context of digital development, and encouraging researchers and students to be creative whilst ensuring the preservation of their intellectual rights.
