Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Farhad Aziz Mohiuddin, Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, and in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education organized a voluntary campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of suicide with the aim of spreading awareness of the causes of this dangerous phenomenon and providing the necessary guidance to prevent it. A group of students and professors from the department participated in the campaign and distributed awareness leaflets in the university halls that included messages aimed at enhancing hope and self-confidence and emphasizing the importance of psychological and social support. The leaflets also contained advice on how to recognize the warning signs of individuals who may be at risk and ways to provide assistance to them in a positive and constructive manner. The campaign organizers shed light on the great role of religion and psychological counseling in confronting the psychological challenges that may push some to think about suicide, stressing the importance of adhering to Islamic values that call for hope and optimism and emphasize that life is a divine gift that deserves to be preserved no matter the difficulties.
The Dean stressed the importance of such initiatives in addressing sensitive social issues, noting that raising awareness of the dangers of suicide is a humanitarian and academic duty, calling for continued efforts to spread awareness and promote a culture of psychological support within the university community and beyond.
