A volunteer initiative from the College of Basic Education at Kirkuk University to support sick children

The College of Basic Education / Student Activities Division participated in the noble humanitarian initiative to support sick children, organized by the Volunteer Work Division in cooperation with the corresponding Student Activities Divisions across the colleges of University of Kirkuk. This participation was embodied in a field visit to children suffering from enzyme disorders at the Children’s Hospital to check on their health conditions and provide them with a dose of hope and psychological support.
In this context, the Head of the Volunteer Work Division at the university, Prof. Dr. Salwa Jirjis Salman, stated that this initiative stems from the university’s core societal role and its continuous commitment to supporting young patients throughout their treatment journey, thereby reinforcing the values of social solidarity and genuine humanitarian compassion.
The visit was marked by heartfelt moments, during which gifts were distributed to the children and joyful time was spent with them, listening to their stories and understanding their needs. The atmosphere was filled with humanity and aimed at bringing smiles to their tired faces and alleviating the burden of illness.
At the conclusion of the initiative, the Deanship of the College of Basic Education reaffirmed its commitment to continuing support for such activities, believing that the mission of education is completed through humanitarian work, and that strengthening the bond between the university and the community is the highest path toward serving the most vulnerable groups and achieving social stability.
