A master's thesis at the College of Agriculture discussed the use of remote sensing technology in rainwater management and harvesting in southern Kirkuk Governorate.
The thesis, presented by student Renar Abdul Rahman Ahmed, aimed to utilize remote sensing techniques and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to manage rainwater resources, identify optimal locations for implementing rainwater harvesting techniques in southern Kirkuk Governorate, and design land area maps suitable for rainwater harvesting.
The thesis concluded that remote sensing and GIS techniques are effective in identifying potential rainwater collection sites and subsequently constructing barriers and dams for rainwater harvesting. It also found that the SCS_CN method is effective in determining surface runoff volume in the secondary and primary basins of the study area.
