The College of Agriculture, Hawija, held a workshop on "Engineering Seismicity and Risk Mitigation" with the participation of faculty members and students. The workshop included a lecture in which Dr. Mahmoud Abdullah Mohammed demonstrated the durability of buildings, which is represented by modifying and correcting the resistance and hardness of the structural elements individually or the structural whole in general. This is to improve the performance of the building against the supposed earthquakes, and the strengthening often includes increasing the resistance of the individual elements or adding new structural elements to increase the resistance of the building to the lateral forces.
