The University of Kirkuk organizes an interactive conference on the role of scientific research in achieving sustainable development

Under the patronage and presence of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Omran Jamal Hassan, his assistant for scientific affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abd Ibrahim Al-Obeidi, and a number of deans of the faculties, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Hawija, Prof. Dr. Khaled Khalil Ahmed, the college organized the first scientific conference under the slogan “The Role of the Scientific Researcher in Achieving Sustainable Development" in cooperation with the Association of Agricultural Engineers / Kirkuk Branch and the Nabo Foundation for Strategic and Sustainability Studies, with the participation of a number of specialized researchers.The dean of the college stated that the conference aimed to identify the obstacles that affect the agricultural sector and livestock and stand on them by presenting scientific lectures that contribute to their development and emphasizing the increase in agricultural production and livestock as one of the most important causes of economic recovery in various economic and commercial fields, as well as reducing imported agricultural crops and activating local production. The conference included several axes, highlighting on industrial amino acids and their vital role in poultry feeding, specialized agriculture, identifying gypsum soil using oils, climate change and its negative effects on beekeeping, Sustainable development and the role of education in achieving its goals (Iraq as a model), numerical modeling and improving the properties of perovskite solar energy cells using (SCAPS-1D), sustainable development from the point of view of international organizations and the most important challenges, as well as a lecture on agricultural land tenure in Iraq, in addition to herbs and plants Medicinal products not to be sold. The conference concluded with a number of recommendations, represented by the need to pay attention to agriculture in Iraq because of its economic role and is considered one of the reasons for improving living, expanding the areas allocated for agriculture, diversifying summer and winter crops, establishing a mechanism to support farmers through government support for them, and the government’s share in approaching the relevant authorities to increase the share of water Irrigation, support for beekeepers, limiting the leveling of agricultural lands and converting them into residential areas because of their impact on the agricultural sector in Iraq, as well as emphasizing the follow-up of farmers of medicinal plants that are prohibited from selling in markets and not trading them.sustainability00

On the sidelines of the conference, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participating researchers in appreciation of their efforts to make the conference a success.
