To Empower Women and Improve Their Activities,University of Kirkuk holds a scientific symposium on enhancing the environment of female academics and students in the society.

In the presence of the Scientific Assistant of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Salih Ahmed, and the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Chalank Akram Omar, the Women’s Empowerment Unit with the Continuing Education Center at the University, and in cooperation with the Iraqi Al-Amal Association, held a scientific and educational symposium on strengthening the environment of female academics and students within the UN resolution 1325, with the participation of specialized researchers.

The symposium, which was held within the activities of the 16 days of combating violence against women and girls, aimed to clarify the requirements of the role of women in modern society, such as self-confidence and perseverance in work and production with the influential in society.women

The symposium included several aspects, in which it shed light on women's rights from a political and economic point of view, presenting these rights in the view of the legislative law, as well as clarifying the concept of Resolution 1325 and its aspects, as well as the procedures and mechanisms necessary to activate the implementation of this resolution, and the decisions complementing Resolution 1325, and knowing the implementation and accountability mechanisms for each of them.
The symposium discussed the role of universities in spreading awareness among individuals and groups, empowering women politically and socially, enhancing their role and participation in formal and informal peace negotiations, and increasing their representation in decision-making positions.

The symposium, which witnessed the presence of the Director of the Moral Guidance Department at the Ministry of Interior, Major General Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Hussein, the community police, officials of the Women’s Empowerment Unit in the governorate, the university and its faculties, and civil society organizations, concluded with a number of recommendations represented in the necessity of holding training courses for students and teachers to clarify the
extent of the influence of women as well as about its direct impact on society and all its categories and types from an educational awareness aspect.
