A Scientific Seminar Entitled “Autism Spectrum Disorder”

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali, the Continuing Education Division, in cooperation with Al-Irada Specialized Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Autism and Special Needs, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Autism Spectrum Disorder.” The seminar was delivered by Mr. Ali Mahmoud Mohammed, Director of the Center.
This seminar was held within the framework of the growing interest in contemporary psychological and educational issues and as part of ongoing efforts to promote scientific awareness and knowledge regarding developmental disorders in children. The event was attended by a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and specialists, in addition to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The seminar aimed to shed light on Autism Spectrum Disorder as one of the developmental disorders that affects multiple aspects of an individual’s personality, particularly social communication and repetitive behaviors. It also addressed the latest scientific and educational approaches to its diagnosis and management.
Finally, the seminar included several key themes. The first focused on defining Autism Spectrum Disorder and its possible causes, whether genetic or environmental. The second examined the behavioral and cognitive characteristics of children with this disorder, as well as mechanisms for early detection. The third reviewed the most important therapeutic and rehabilitation strategies, including early intervention programs and behavior modification techniques, in addition to highlighting the role of families and educational institutions in supporting this group and facilitating their integration into society.
