
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hussein Ali, the Continuing Education Unit organized a scientific seminar entitled “Types of Critical Introductions up to the Eighteenth Century,” delivered by Lecturer Dr. Zamzam Mohammed Hussein.
The seminar addressed the development of critical introductions across different historical periods, beginning with the early foundations of literary criticism, passing through the contributions of Arab critics, and culminating in the intellectual and methodological transformations of the eighteenth century that contributed to shaping modern critical concepts. It also highlighted the major types of critical introductions, their cognitive and aesthetic functions, and their role in guiding the reader and framing literary texts.
The seminar concluded with a fruitful academic discussion, reflecting the participants’ keen interest in deepening research into the critical heritage and emphasizing its significance in contemporary literary studies.
